The purpose of this blog is to make you aware of the threat to your quality of life and the environmental damage to our neighborhood by a 38 22-unit townhouse development that is being proposed at 700 Mountain Way. A group of your neighbors on Mountain Way, Rocky Heights and South Powder Mill Rd are working together to Preserve Mountain Way. Let your voice be heard. You can make a difference!

As you are aware a professional planner with experience in Parsippany has been hired on behalf of “Preserve Mountain Way” to provide expert analysis on the project submitted by 700 Mountain Way LLC.

This blog is your voice! Click on the ‘Comments’ page to read comments from your neighbors – and submit your own! Visit the ‘Links’ page to gain background on published reports regarding the blight of age-restricted communities and the abundance of abandon development projects in NJ. The ‘Facts’ page will give you background on how this proposed development violates Parsippany’s Master Plan. Be sure to check our ‘About’ page for current events (i.e. planning meetings, petitions, Zoning Board meetings).

I grew up on Mountain Way, graduated from Pasippany Hills HS and was fortunate enough to be able to move back into the neighborhood – just in time to realize a 38-unit age-restricted townhouse development was being proposed right across the street. I remember well, as a young kid, hiking through the woods to Rte 10 – where South Powder Mill Rd. now exists. Mountain Way is in no position (environmentally or transportationally) to accomodate any additional growth. There is no reasonable argument that can be made that this project should be approved.

There are a group of neighbors who are deeply concerned about the impact of this development project. A meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 15 @ 1:00 pm at the Parsippany Library, 449 Halsey Rd. Please plan to attend and tell your neighbors of the pending threat, and invite them to come along on Saturday as well.
